
Dr. Beneberu Assefa - Policy Studies Institute, Ethiopia
Dr. Beneberu Assefa Wondimagegnhu is a lead researcher at the Agriculture and Rural Development Policy Research Center, sector of economic policy research at the Policy Studies Institute, and an associate professor of rural development. Dr. Beneberu holds a Ph.D. Degree in International Development Studies from the Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany. In addition, he holds an MA in Development Management from the Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany, and an MA in Development Studies from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa.
Before joining the institute, he worked at Bahir Dar University, and other Universities in Ethiopia, and served as a researcher and division head at Werer Research Center, Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR). He has also served as a department head and chair of rural livelihoods and sustainable development research at the Department of Rural Development and Agricultural Extension at Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia. He also did an internship at the Department of Policies and Campaigns, Food Security, Agriculture & Environment desk of Bread for the World (Brot fuer die Welt) in Germany.
He has published several research articles in reputable international journals in areas of rural development, gender and development, natural resource economics and management, evaluation of development projects, agricultural extension, climate change and livelihoods, poverty, food and nutrition security, policy analysis, migration, and resettlement.
Dr. Beneberu has extensive experience in providing consultancy services and managing research projects. Moreover, he has supervised both undergraduate and postgraduate students in Ethiopia and abroad and served as a reviewer and editor for several reputable journals.
