In partnership with AidData, ANAPRI is dedicated to empowering African nations by enhancing the open-access availability and uptake of digital toolkits designed for impact assessments and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems. These toolkits harness the power of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and remote sensing data, enabling researchers and organizations across the continent to make informed, data-driven decisions in the agricultural sector.

One of the central innovations of this project is the use of Geospatial Impact Evaluations (GIEs), a cutting-edge approach that leverages satellite and remote sensor data along with causal inference methods. GIEs offer a powerful way to evaluate agricultural interventions, allowing assessments across diverse settings, topics, and timeframes. This method significantly enhances the capacity to understand what works in agricultural development, providing critical insights for policy formulation and resource allocation.

AidData, a renowned research lab based at William & Mary in the United States, has been a pioneer in developing and applying GIEs. Through this partnership, AidData collaborates with ANAPRI to provide training and support collaborations aimed at building the capacity of ANAPRI member institutes. This project ensures that African researchers can adopt and implement these innovative approaches, broadening the scope and effectiveness of agricultural impact evaluations across the continent.
