The Regional Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes (ReNAPRI), was engaged by the Conseil Ouest et Centre Africain pour la Recherche et le Développement Agricoles/West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF) to carry out a four-day training workshop from the 30th of May to the 2nd of June 2022. The training was targeted at the west and central Africa region with the aim to build the capacity of the national organizations on the use of Agricultural Investment Systems Police Practice Index (AIS-PPI) tool to assess agricultural Science Technology and Innovation (STI) policies at regional and national levels. This was part of activities to achieve one of the five main outputs of CAADP-XP4, Output 3, which focusses on strengthening agricultural sector policies in support of climate-relevant agriculture and food systems transformation and using the policies as a tool to advocate for increased investment and resource mobilization, and to strengthen market linkages of value chain actors.
The specific objectives of the training workshop were to: strengthen capacities of regional and national organizations in policy formulation, implementation and policy advocacy; strengthen resource mobilization; and support the implementation of the policies particularly STI policies among African countries. The workshop was delivered virtually using Zoom and Google Classroom platforms.
