Markets & Trade
In the 2014 Malabo Declaration, African leaders recognized the critical role of regional trade in driving agricultural growth and committed to tripling intra-African trade in agricultural goods and services by 2025. Achieving this ambitious goal is essential for enhancing food security, creating jobs, and fostering economic development across the continent.
ANAPRI and its member institutes are dedicated to supporting progress towards this vision by providing rigorous empirical analysis and actionable policy recommendations. Our research focuses on identifying and addressing regional trade barriers, analyzing value chains and markets, and assessing the impact of existing policies on trade and market integration.
By examining the dynamics of agricultural trade within Africa, we aim to uncover opportunities for increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving access to markets for all stakeholders, particularly smallholder farmers. Our work also explores the potential for regional integration to enhance competitiveness, boost exports, and create a more resilient agricultural sector.
Through our research and policy engagement, ANAPRI plays a vital role in guiding policymakers, trade organizations, and businesses towards strategies that will unlock the full potential of Africa’s agricultural markets and trade networks. We are committed to advancing the continent’s progress toward a more integrated and prosperous agricultural economy.
