We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the 11th ANAPRI Stakeholder Conference, held from 26th to 28th November 2024 in Dakar, Senegal. Special thanks to our host, the ANAPRI Centre in Senegal, ISRA-BAME, for their exceptional organisation and hospitality. To our supporters, funders, virtual and physical attendees, your participation and engagement were invaluable, making this event a remarkable milestone for Africa’s agricultural and food systems.
This year’s conference was nothing short of exceptional. It brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, fostering robust discussions, meaningful networking, and advancements in collaboration. The event served as a platform for constructive dialogue and partnerships aimed at addressing the continent’s pressing agricultural challenges. The exchange of ideas and collective resolve demonstrated the power of collaboration in driving impactful change.

For those who missed any sessions or wish to revisit key moments, the replay of the conference sessions is available on our YouTube channel. We encourage you to watch and share with others who are passionate about advancing Africa’s agricultural and food systems.
At the conference, ANAPRI, in partnership with the African Union, launched the Farmer Know Your Soil Campaign. This initiative supports the domestication of the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Action Plan (AFSH-AP) and the Soil Initiative for Africa (SIA). The initiative aims to empower farmers by providing decision-support tools and knowledge to better understand their soil, thereby enabling sustainable farming practices and enhancing agricultural productivity.

In an exciting development, ANAPRI formalised a coalition agreement with the Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN), AGRA, Michigan State University (MSU), and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). This coalition represents a collaborative effort to accelerate policy alignment and advocacy, ensuring the effective domestication and implementation of the AFSH-AP and SIA. Together, we aim to strengthen Africa’s agricultural systems through collaborative action.
The conference also marked the launch of the ANAPRI Modelling Services Centre (MSC), a groundbreaking initiative that positions ANAPRI as a leader in agricultural policy analysis. What sets the MSC apart is its use of Policy Prioritisation through Value Chain Analysis (PPVC) approach, developed by IFPRI in collaboration with one of the ANAPRI Centres, BFAP. This innovative methodology effectively integrates analytics for both the “business case” and the “development case” of policies and investments. This approach holds immense potential to drive transformative outcomes, reinforcing ANAPRI’s mission to promote innovation and evidence-based policymaking across Africa.
We also take this opportunity to remind all attendees to kindly complete the post-conference evaluation form. Your feedback is crucial for improving future events and ensuring they continue to meet the needs of stakeholders across Africa.
Looking ahead, we are delighted to announce that the 12th ANAPRI Stakeholders Conference will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, in 2025, to be hosted by the Economic Policy Research Network (EPRN), Rwanda. This event will provide yet another valuable platform to further our collective vision for sustainable and inclusive food systems across Africa.
We encourage everyone to continue engaging with us and following our journey as we work to transform food systems across the continent. Stay connected with ANAPRI through our website, Linkedin, Facebook, X, and YouTube channels, where you can access updates, insights, and opportunities to be part of the change. Thank you once again for your invaluable support and collaboration. Together, we can achieve lasting impact for Africa’s agricultural and food systems.
