Edward Mutandwa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension at the University of Zimbabwe. He holds a PhD degree in Forest Economics and Policy from Mississippi State University, USA (December 2015). He is also a holder of masters and bachelor’s degrees in agricultural economics from the University of Zimbabwe. He has over 20 years’ experience in the academic and development working spanning countries that include Zimbabwe, Rwanda and the United States.

His research interests are in the areas of agricultural and environmental economics including ecosystem services valuation, urban forestry, food security-poverty analysis, impacts of climate change on rural livelihoods, urban food systems, and the role of indigenous knowledge systems in the rural society, and greening initiatives in developing countries.

Prof. Mutandwa has published more than 45 journal articles in internationally referred journals that include Forest Policy and Economics (Elsevier), Small-scale Forestry (Springer) and the International Journal of Social Economics (Emerald Publishing). Currently, he is working on projects related to the informal urban food markets, shocks and policy responses project as well as fertilizer and soil health policy report for Zimbabwe.
