The final session of the PPVC II Fellows Training Programme took place from 14th to 18th October 2024 in South Africa in South Africa, marked an intensive and rewarding experience for fellows from the different ANAPRI centres. The focus was on enhancing skills in Partial Equilibrium (PE) modelling, Computable General Equilibrium (CGE)  and value chain analysis (VCA). The session also provided an opportunity for fellows from the PPVC II focus countries to demonstrate how these tools interact in a deep-dive analysis.

Throughout the week, participants engaged in presentations, hands-on workshops, and collaborative discussions. These sessions enabled fellows to apply theoretical knowledge to practical challenges, refining their ability to comprehensively analyse value chains and propose practical solutions that can transform them. The emphasis on practical learning gave participants the knowledge and experience to effectively manage and assess real-world projects.

A highlight of the week was finalising and presenting individual models and value chain analyses. Fellows participated in in-depth sessions, developing and delivering comprehensive insights into various value chain challenges. The collaborative environment fostered peer learning, with participants sharing their work on value chains and providing and receiving constructive feedback.

The week concluded with a plenary and feedback session on the training and the closing ceremony, celebrating the fellows’ accomplishments. This final session emphasised collaboration to enhance individual and institutional growth. The fellows expressed confidence in applying the skills they had gained to drive positive change in their respective countries, utilising the expertise gained from the training.

The PPVC (Policy Prioritisation through Value Chain Analysis) approach provides access to high-quality models, tools, and analytics based on credible and verified data. These resources help assess priorities and trade-offs associated with Inclusive Agricultural Transformation (IAT). By identifying and prioritising value chains that can increase incomes, ensure food and nutrition security, promote agricultural GDP growth, and create jobs, PPVC supports decision-makers in making informed choices. This prioritisation also guides the implementation of policies and investments that effectively upgrade key value chains and drive sustainable development and economic growth.
